HOW I USE IT

1) Math Olympiad preparation: These challenges are inspired by real Math Olympiad competitions and help students practice the creative reasoning needed for competitive math

2) Early Finishers: I give them to early finishers or as a problem of the week. Parents are also usually very happy to see we do these kinds of things at school, which has even improved parent satisfaction (always nice!)

3) Tutoring Side Business: I usually dislike doing tutoring because it always turns into a massive amount of ad-hoc work (specific homework, individual assignments, etc.). But Math Olympiad tutoring is actually great because it is clearly defined and I can easily reuse the material for different students and even run it as a small group. It makes tutoring very lucrative and much simpler

4) Test Preparation: On an adaptive test, gifted students will eventually reach questions they have no background knowledge about. These puzzles are perfect to train for that scenario. They teach students how to rely on logic, spot patterns, and creatively problem-solve, even when faced with unfamiliar concepts. This has helped my top students achieve high growth in test scores, despite their already high percentiles (which usually makes strong growth difficult).
